We are Taking Small Steps to Make Earth Better Planet
Prophetess Grace Mensah, popularly known as Maame Grace, is the principal founder and leader of Edumfa Prayer Camp in the Central Region of Ghana. She is popularly known for her powerful Anointing, which enables her to perform all sorts of miracles. Notably among her spiritual works is the gift of healing and prophecy.
Born on 31st December 1923 by Opanyin Kwesi Amoah and Mame Afua Fotwiwa, Grace Amoah was the ninth child out of the 15 children of her parents. She spent her childhood at Ejyirkrom in the Central Region with her parents, where she first encountered the Lord as a Fulani man from Niger met her parents and advised them to send Grace to school and buy a Bible for her. But Auntie Grace couldn’t further her studies beyond elementary school due to the funds required to cater to all the children of her parents.
Her passion and love for God were not fully expressed until 1948 when she married Papa John Mensah, a devoted farmer who later won twice the Ghana Best Farmer Awards in 1999 and 2004 (champion of champions 2nd round-up). In their youth, the couple traveled throughout various locations in Ghana and Ivory Coast because Auntie Grace was then a trader. She lived many years in the north Ivory Coast, where she developed a special love and passion for the francophone communities. The life of the woman of God took a problematic turn as she tried to resist her calling, being attached to her business. She encountered many challenges with her husband as she tried to escape her divine destiny (like Jonah).
However, when she understood and freely embraced her calling, the Lord mightily used Aunti Grace to bring supernatural solutions and healing in the lives of many. She served initially under the Church of Pentecost from 1954 before God instructed her to establish a Prayer and Healing Center, which she did in 1972 with the support of her husband, Papa John Mensah. The ministry started in the tiny house of her husband. God honored her obedience, and the ministry grew. They moved to a new and more significant site which has gradually developed into a city of tens of hectares with modern buildings and infrastructures for accommodation and spiritual and material healing. Auntie Grace funds her ministry with various incomes, including her and her husband’s immense farms (cocoa, sugar cane, palm, plantain, orange, cassava, coconut, etc.).
Today, Edumfa Prayer Camp is one of the most famous prayer camps in Ghana and the sub-region. All visitors are accommodated free of charge in the modern infrastructure of the prayer camp.
Every day, visitors from all over Ghana, Africa, and the world visit Edumfa to get healing and solutions to their various challenges. There are thousands of testimonies of healing, deliverance, and financial breakthrough, just to mention a few. The prayer camp has been of great help over the years to many, including statesmen/women, clergymen/women, businessmen/women, etc. The notoriety of Mrs. Grace Mensah has crossed the borders of Ghana and Africa to Europe, Asia, Australia, and the USA.
Many cases of incurable diseases, such as AIDS, cancer, etc., were healed through the ministry of Auntie Grace. Also, thousands of families, businesses, churches, etc. were restored and revived by God through her servant as people visited Edumfa Prayer Camp. More than a simple citizen and minister of the gospel, Mrs. Grace Mensah has become a national figure who is the pride of Ghana and even beyond the shores of Ghana.
In 2011, Maame Grace reportedly healed many blind people who medical doctors had discarded. When news of her healing prowess went viral, the Pentecostal Church of Ghana, where she attended church, disowned her. They warned her not to mention the name of the Pentecost Church or use anything belonging to them at her prayer camp. They further warned their members against going to Edumfa to pray. This didn’t stop Maame Grace. That strengthened her enough, and the Lord used her to perform more miracles.
Auntie Grace used to say, “I am just the watchman.” It’s Jesus who does all the work. She died in 2013 at the age of 90. At Edumfa Heavenly Ministry, people of all religions are accepted. Prayer and fasting are vital components of the spiritual battle that is going on in the world. We also believe that prayer helps us focus on the fact that God is sovereign and we rely on Him.
The Lord uses Prophetess Rebekah Bedford, who is in charge of Edumfa Heavenly Ministry today, to carry on Aunti Grace and Papa John Mensah’s legacy. Auntie Grace devoted over 58 years of her life to the service of God and her nation; she left a legacy for the coming generations. This legacy should be considered a national treasure that must be preserved and developed. The subsequent generations must honor and value her material legacy (infrastructures and children) and her spiritual legacy (spiritual mantle and gifts).
